KINGS CHILDREN HOME - BELMOPAN, BELIZE NEEDS YOUR HELP

Big H. decided that he wanted to join the "collecting good karma" tour with Coco Loco & I and offered to drive us up to Belmopan, & thereafter overnight in San Ignacio.

Coco Loco and I had already bought most of the sale stock from Toucan Gift Shop on Caye Caulker and we wanted to bring a little island vibe to the 38 children at the King Children Home of Belize.
We stocked up on shoes, clothing, toiletries, toys etc. to bring a little sunshine to them since we figured they don't go shopping often or at all.

The KINGS CHILDREN HOME is the second oldest Children's Home in Belize. It is run by Mrs. Leonie Gillham (leonieehg@yahoo.com). Mrs. Gillham had help start the Laguna Childrens Home in 1982, but that home has since closed down. The Mel Holland Children's Home was also closed down last year.

The oldest Children's Home in Belize is the Dorothy Menzies Home and the most recent Children's Homes are the Marla Hanna's Childrens Home and the Liberty Children's Home.

While all of the Children's Homes in Belize are struggling financially, some get more attention than others with fund raising efforts.

Ms. Gillham says that the Government of Belize only assists with $1000 (Belizean dollars ) a month!

The Children at the Kings Children Home range from infant to 18 years old and are abandoned or abused children.

If anyone is willing to help this home, please contact Ms. Gillham at her email provided above.

Little David latched on to me from the moment I arrived and it was really hard to leave him behind, he was so adorable!
